Dear 4th Grade Families, October 9, 2018
Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall weather. We have been working hard in Room 14. We are now well into the second unit in both math and reading/writing-our reading unit is called Characters' Actions and Reactions. In writing, we have been writing a narrative by focusing on a small "real" moment in our lives and then asking what if and using our imagination to stretch out the details! The kids are amazing writers, and I can't wait to read their final pieces. We started our study of California's regions as well as writing poetry. The first monthly project, the Poetry Project, was assigned and is due on Wed., October 31st. Your child was given the directions-the information is also posted on the Special Projects page on this website. Lastly in science, we have started our unit on Waves of Sounds - sounds and waves of communication. This unit helps students develop the idea that sound is an actual thing, a wave of vibrabtions traveling through the air. Equipped with this understanding, students can begin to make sense of how sound and music work. Sound
